Even when temperatures are high, it's good to be in the garden and under shady trees. Today we present four of the most beautiful beer gardens in Mainz, Ingelheim and Worms.
Beer garden Favorite - Enjoy properly in the Mainz city park
In the upper town, with a magnificent view of the Rhine, the Taunus and the Mainz railroad bridge, is the beer garden of the Parkhotel Favorite. The tables with the red and white tablecloths invite you to enjoy hearty delicacies in the middle of the city park. From Mainz specialties such as "Spundekäs" and "Handkäs mit Musik" to tarte flambée and delicious grilled dishes, the menu offers everything the beer garden visitor's heart desires. With your meal, you can drink a freshly tapped beer or "en gude rhoihessische Woi" from the region.
Those who prefer to dine indoors and like things a bit more dignified have two more options at Favorite Parkhotel: In the beautifully designed wine bar, which is located on the first floor right next to the beer garden, guests can enjoy fresh dishes á la carte.
The special icing on the cake, however, is the star restaurant with panoramic terrace on the second floor of the hotel. The kitchen, under the direction of star chef Tobias Schmitt, was recently awarded a Michelin star and three Gault-Millau toques. Special taste experiences guaranteed!
The Mainz Railroad Bridge with its historic towers connects the state capital Mainz in Rhineland-Palatinate with Ginsheim-Gustavsburg in Hesse. The line also serves as a direct rail link between Mainz and the metropolis of Frankfurt am Main, which is used daily by many commuters to get to their workplace. At 1028.6 meters, the Südbrücke is one of the longest rail bridges in Germany.
The little owl - The "hip" on the copper mountain terrace
The Eulchen brewery is located in a historic location on the Kästrich in Mainz. Its success story goes back to the final project of two Mainz students, Philip Vogel and Leonidas Lazaridis, who founded the brewery in 2013. After the Eulchen found its first home in a water house in Mainz's Neustadt district, a move to the palace beer garden of the Electoral Palace followed. Since 2019, the brewery is now located in the idyllic area of the Kupferbergterrasse. In addition to various, delicious types of beer, the Eulchen also offers homemade pizzas as a speciality, which are prepared with the original Eulchen beer yeast and are therefore particularly tasty. By the way, the delicious Eulchen beers are also available to take away for enjoyment at home.
2023, the two founders have leased further space on the Kupferberg. These include the "Kupferberg Terrasse" restaurant, which is well-known beyond Mainz, as well as the associated beautiful garden, where remnants of the former city wall can still be admired. Fresh regional and seasonal dishes are served there, with an emphasis on vegetarian dishes. From the Kupferberg Terrace you have a great view over the city and its striking church towers.
Brauhaus Goldener Engel in Ingelheim - Large beer garden with garden bar and restaurant
The beer garden of the Goldener Engel brewery is open during the summer months when the weather is nice. At the self-service taproom, visitors can order smaller delicacies to go with their beer and even eat the food they brought from home.
You can also eat well and heartily in the in-house restaurant with a beautiful garden terrace. Fresh, regional and seasonal menus are served here. The menu includes popular schnitzels, tasty burgers, grilled knuckles and other gourmet specialties, such as Allgäuer Kässpätzle or oven-fresh Kaiserschmarrn with apple sauce.
The home-brewed beers are particularly popular with guests. The light, dark and wheat beers are definitely worth a visit to the Golden Angel and can also be taken home in bottles.
But also for the "little ones" is provided at the Golden Angel. Right next to the beer garden is a large playground with everything a child's heart desires (swings, slides, bouncy castle).
If the weather does not permit a visit to the beer garden or the garden terrace, you can enjoy yourself in the bright and architecturally very beautifully designed interiors of the restaurant. The large room on the upper floor also offers space for larger groups.
Kolb`s Biergarten in Worms - Committed to tradition
Built as early as 1739, the inn with its large beer garden is known far beyond the city limits of Worms and is a real institution. As one of the oldest inns, it is one of the most traditional in the city. Situated directly on the Rhine promenade, guests enjoy a magnificent view of the Rhine and the passing ships under cooling plane trees. The absolute highlight on the menu is the crispy chicken with fries and salad. But handkäs', colorful salads fried pike-perch are also very popular with the guests.
Owner Stefan Herbold, who took over the inn with cult status over 20 years ago, is a host with heart and soul. From spring to fall, he organizes musical and sporting events for his guests as a special treat. So it's no wonder that well-known stars from showbiz and sports are sometimes to be found here.
And if the weather doesn't really want to cooperate, visitors can also take a seat in the rustic guest room. The restaurant and beer garden are located just behind the "old" bridge over the Rhine in Worms (Nibelungenbrücke) with the 53-meter high, neo-Romanesque Nibelungenturm. The monumental tower is considered a representative entrance to the city of Worms and was built in 1900 according to the plans of city architect Karl Hofmann.

An important and special beer garden in Mainz is the Schlossbiergarten, the only beer garden that is also a cultural garden and provides a large stage for regional artists. Culinary delights refined Rheinhessen style. Should also be mentioned on your website.
Hello, Angelika,
thanks for the tip, you're right, the castle beer garden is also a great place, partly because of the cultural stage. We'll be sure to include it in our next post. Best regards Ingrid
