Wine as far as the eye can see. If you are cycling in Rheinhessen, you will definitely not be able to avoid viticulture, because vines, like fruit trees and joie de vivre, are simply part of Rheinhessen's character. While the Rhine Cycle Path, for example, nestles against the legendary vineyards of the Roter Hang near Nierstein, you can cycle from vineyard to vineyard on the Selz Valley Cycle Route<\/a> The route is very tranquil, from the foot of the Westerberg in Ingelheim to the Petersberg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

High up and a sweeping descent, in between a picnic with a fantastic view of the vineyards - what could be better? For those who want to let off steam on the climbs, it's worth taking a detour to the unique viewpoints over the sea of vines. Whether on the Petersberg - famous for its unique wild tulips - Wi\u00dfberg, Mainzer Berg or Westerberg, to name just a few of the Hiwwel - the panorama is guaranteed on all sides, with good views as far as the Taunus, the Hessian Bergstrasse and the Frankfurt skyline. One of the most popular European long-distance cycle routes shows you Rheinhessen from its cosmopolitan side - life literally bubbles along the state border between Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse. A whole 90 kilometers River cycle path<\/a> offer plenty of cycling fun for all fitness levels and ages thanks to the flat route profile and good surfaces. Whether you're with the kids, fully loaded on a long tour, on a recumbent bike or sporty on a racing bike - there's something for everyone. The ferry connections also allow you to change perspectives from time to time and enjoy culture and nature on both sides of the Rhine. On hot days, you can always cool off thanks to the breeze and bathing spots. And if you've had enough, you can simply change to the regional train at any time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rheinhessen is so close that it makes sense to simply cycle out after work or over the weekend. Warm rays of sunshine, the wind on your skin and letting your gaze wander into the distance - that's the best way to relax. Just around the corner and yet quiet and tranquil, you will find fresh air here to balance out the hectic city life. From Mainz, Wiesbaden and Worms, of course, you have direct access to the Rhine-Hessian route network, but you can also be here from Frankfurt and Mannheim in no time at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cycling in Rheinhessen by public transport - no problem! Thanks to the dense Line network<\/a> you can easily start your bike tour from the train station in Mainz, Alzey, Ingelheim, Bingen, Worms or many other stops. This is particularly practical for long-distance tours that do not lead back to the starting point. Bikes can be taken along free of charge from 9 a.m., you save yourself the trouble of looking for a parking space and are also climate-neutral. It's even cost-neutral with the Deutschlandticket<\/a>. Rheinhessen stands for wine and fruit enjoyment like hardly any other region - and you are the closest to it by bike. Many winegrowers and farmers offer their regional products<\/a> directly on the cycle path to take away or for an enjoyable break. Regiomats and Vinomats are now available around the clock at many locations. During harvest time, for example, a self-picking adventure can be easily combined with the Rhine Cycle Path or the Fruit Route. Of course, a successful cycle tour includes a cake break and a final stop at a cozy wine tavern \ud83d\ude09.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
