Did you know? Rheinhessen is Germany's largest wine-growing region. In the land of a thousand hills, you can taste the grape juice from numerous winegrowers. It's certainly not easy for you to choose. No problem: Today I'm going to introduce you to five wine stands that you should know about. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wine stand on the Rhine in Mainz<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We start with a special wine stand in the state capital of Rhineland-Palatinate: the wine stand on Fischtorplatz in Mainz is open for you on Saturdays from 10 am to 6 pm. Every weekend it's the turn of a different Mainz winery to serve wine. You can enjoy the wonderful view of the Rhine in a cozy atmosphere under sheltering parasols - even for a Meenzer M\u00e4dsche like me, this is still something very special! Afterwards, I recommend you go for a walk along the banks of the Rhine - stroll past plane trees, watch passing ships and proud swans gliding elegantly through the water. All in all, a soothing break that offers relaxation and plenty of moments of pleasure.\u00a0 More info<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wine rest with a view in M\u00f6lsheim <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The path now leads us to the dignified M\u00f6lsheim in the Zellertal. From the end of April to the end of October, winegrowers from Rheinhessen and Palatinate, associations and other committed people entertain their guests in the Aegidius Park (Sundays and public holidays from 11 a.m.). From there you can enjoy a magnificent view of the idyllic Zellertal. I especially like the view of Wachenheim an der Pfrimm with its defiant upper castle. You can also see the Odenwald, the Rhine plain and the Donnersberg from here. A hiking lounger also invites you to take a short break. I let the wind blow around my nose and enjoy my delicious grape juice - wonderful on a hot day like today. In 2015, a new wine pavilion was built, which can provide you with food and drink in the best possible way. So you can also spend convivial hours at this small but fine wine stand. If you like, you can also enjoy one of the diverse Hiking- <\/a>or bike paths and get to know the charming Zellertal even better in this way. However, the view in the Aegidiuspark alone already gives a good foretaste of the scenery worth seeing.

WinePavilion at the Zornheimer Ruhkreuz <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Hiwweltour Zornheimer <\/a>Berg is a 6.8-kilometer hike that leaves nothing to be desired: Hikers are treated to exceptional views on the shortest of all Hiwwelt tours. As a small reward, a visit to the new WinePavilions at the Zornheim Ruhkreuz<\/a> of course you can also go directly to the wine stand without a hike: Here member vintners of the association offer WineExperience Zornheimer Berg <\/em>offers its guests wine specialties and small delicacies from the region on alternating weekends from April to September (Saturdays from 2 to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., all dates on the website<\/a>). Below the wine stand, there is a comfortable lounger on the most beautiful wine view Rheinhessen 2020<\/em> for a little break. But the view from the WeinPavillon is also remarkable: In addition to a romantic landscape, a chapel in the vineyards has now also been enriching the view for some time - a real architectural masterpiece! So this wine stand is also an excellent place to unwind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wine stand at the Nieder-Olm weekly market <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Now it's on to beautiful Nieder-Olm. I particularly like the fact that this wine stand is open during the week - on Tuesdays from 1 to 8 p.m., to be precise. As part of the Nieder-Olm weekly market, the Bischofsm\u00fchle winery provides its guests with excellent wines. I let myself enjoy a fine Gew\u00fcrztraminer. My husband and I also always enjoy using the wine stand on the town hall square to meet up with friends. We like the relaxed, convivial atmosphere. So it's hardly surprising that many people from Nieder-Olm also like to linger at the stand - for a lively chat and a glass of wine. Afterwards, I stroll around the market for a while; buy a pretty bouquet of flowers, sniff the scent of Mediterranean delicacies, discover home-baked bread and much more. A real experience for the senses. My tip: Since the Nieder-Olm weekly market is located in the middle of town, it is always worth visiting the adjacent stores. More info<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summer hiking at the Kreuzkapelle in Gau-Bickelheim<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The picturesquely situated Kreuzkapelle (Chapel of the Cross) on the Wi\u00dfberg with its bright red roof catches the eye of travelers and locals alike from afar. In my opinion, the lavishly restored building is one of the most important sights that Rheinhessen has to offer. A wonderful place for a wine tasting. As part of the hiking summer, Gau-Bickelheim associations and winegrowers have a rich offer of wines and small delicacies ready on Sundays until 25.09.2022 from 11 am. From Gau-Bickelheim you can hike comfortably up to the Kreuzkapelle<\/a>. How about a refreshing wine spritzer as a reward? I old sweet tooth, on the other hand, treat myself to a big piece of cake; let the view wander over the Rhine-Hessian hill country and of course again and again to the Kreuzkapelle. So enjoyable and cozy I just let myself drift and am once again very grateful that I live in such a unique region. More info<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
