Ice cream treat break at the Rossmarkt in Alzey

The Selztal cycle path leads through the middle of the lively Volker town of Alzey. Directly at the Rossmarkt, the heart of the city and the landmark of the minstrel and knight Volker von Alzey from the Song of the Nibelungs, is the "Eiscafe de Covre". In front of the picturesque half-timbered backdrop at the fountain, you can have a wonderful breakfast or get in the mood for the upcoming bike tour with a coffee. If you'd like a scoop of ice cream to go with it, I recommend the new creation "Primavera Traum," a combination of white chocolate, pistachios and raspberry.

An ice cream on the hand in Gau-Odernheim

Heading out of town in the direction of Nieder-Olm, you will drive through the wide valley of the Selz River and reach Gau-Odernheim after 8 kilometers. The small community with its beautiful half-timbered houses exudes coziness and typical Rhine-Hessian charm. Since 2015, Angelo Pisano's Caffetteria Icaro, located directly on the Selz Valley Cycle Path in the center of the village, has been providing a cooling ice cream treat on hot summer days. He offers a total of 23 varieties, all homemade. With a view of Gau-Odernheim's old town hall, this is the perfect place to recharge your batteries for the next few kilometers.

Half-time stop in Nieder-Olm

Anyone who gets off their bike in Nieder-Olm has already covered more than half of the route. A good reason to sit down on the inviting sun terrace or in the beach chair at the Eiscafe Piccin and enjoy the view of the radiant baroque church of St. George. Riva Luciano has been running the ice cream parlor on Pariser Straße since 2009. With its 24 types of ice cream, freshly prepared daily, the modernly furnished Piccin is a popular meeting place for guests young and old. Especially on warm days, you hardly see anyone who doesn't stroll across the square with an ice cream cone.

Italian ice cream pleasure in Stadecken-Elsheim

Fior di Gelato - loosely translated as the ice flower - is waiting for you in Stadecken-Elsheim just 7 kilometers further in the direction of Ingelheim. The large parasols point the way from afar to the ice cream parlor, which is otherwise rather hidden in a residential building. The location on the busy town street underscores the original charm of an Italian gelateria. Those who prefer to enjoy their ice cream in a somewhat quieter spot will find their ideal spot at the rest area of the Elftausend-Mägde-Mühle, a few hundred meters further on, directly on the Selztal cycle path.

Become an ice cream man at the Eiscafe Napolitano in Ingelheim

We made it! Ingelheim, the destination of the tour has been reached. If you can't get enough ice cream or have missed opportunities along the way, you can now reward yourself with a big sundae. The Eiscafé Napolitano is ideally suited for this. The family business has been providing real ice cream enjoyment in the Neue Mitte for 8 years and has been in the ice cream business for 40 years with its parent branch in neighboring Gau-Algesheim. The special: Here you can become an ice cream man or woman yourself. The idea is that you can put together your own personal ice cream sundae, which is a real challenge given the large selection.

Where you can be on two wheels is of particular interest to me. But I also like to be active in other ways. The main thing is to get out into nature!
